Below is a list of community resources (non profit organizations) that offer support to undocumented families: food pantries, clothing centers, healthcare/mental health, legal services, financial assistance, support groups, and emergency shelter services.
The organizations listed here are NOT endorsed by GCC or any staff members. They are merely here as a resource.
GCC Food for Thought Pantry (Glendale Students Only)
Verdugo Campus Food Pantry is located in San Fernando 122. The Garfield Campus Pantry is located in TR 207. The Food for Thought Pantry is open to any currently enrolled GCC students who complete a short application.

Since 1999, the International Families Association has worked to solve food insecurity in Glendale and the surrounding areas. Low-income community members can access the food pantry with a valid I.D/ driver’s license.

BTAC provides a variety of grocery (including breads and sweets), personal hygiene and household items to all of our clients, housed and homeless alike. These pantry items are available for pick-up during these hours:

BTAC provides clients a variety of programs and services including: Groceries from BTAC's Food Pantry. Daily sack lunches for the homeless. Assistance with utility bills. Transportation assistance. ID/License replacement program. Limited medical assistance. For Burbank Residents only!

MEND’s Emergency Food Bank is unique in that it is the largest in Los Angeles providing direct distribution to clients in need, and one of the largest in the state of California. Emergency food boxes provide a generous, nutritionally balanced three-day supply of emergency food, designed to help the families make ends meet, but not to create a dependency on MEND. *Walk-up and Drive-Thru Service. Food distribution is open to any community member in need. If available, please have picture ID.

Project Ropa is the only nonprofit organization of its kind in Los Angeles: our mission is to restore dignity and empower the lives of people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles by providing clean clothes, hygiene essentials, and employment opportunities while reducing textile waste and minimizing our carbon footprint. Our retrofitted van, functioning as a mobile walk-in closet, carries hope as well as a full selection of clothes, shoes, accessories and hygiene products.

Providing a basic wardrobe of essential clothing to underprivileged children enrolled in schools in the San Fernando Valley. The clothes center is currently the only non-profit that provides the complete clothing needs (school uniforms, backpacks, and hygiene kits) of the LAUSD children grades from K-12 and LAUSD Homeless Ed Department to middle school and high school students. Unsheltered or low-income MEND clients. Clients will need to fill our registration form.
MEND’s Clothing Center is set up like any mall shop with attractive window displays and well-organized clothing for men, women and children. Clients are welcome to a monthly allotment of clothes for each family member.

- A donation of $5.00 is requested
- Please bring a picture ID, proof of current address and proof of income.
- Clients can receive assistance once every 30 days (once monthly only).

My Health L.A. is no-cost health care program for low-income residents, 6 years old and older, who don’t have health insurance, regardless of immigration status. My Health LA members get FREE basic medical care at one of the 164 non-profit clinics that are “Community Partners.” People can call the clinics to make an appointment to enroll and to check if the clinic is accepting new patients. My Health LA provides children, families, and single adults in Los Angeles County a medical home, where patients can get primary care from doctors and nurses who understand their medical history.

Forty emergency shelter beds are located onsite and are available to eligible families with children and adults for up to 60-90 days. There are no age limits or other restrictions. Located in Northridge, the new 90-bed family shelter offers hope, shelter and safe, supportive housing to thousands of families who are homeless. Early Head Start provides services to children ages 8 weeks to 3 years. This includes education, health, nutrition, mental health and developmentally appropriate activities for infants and toddlers.
California State Preschool Program (CSPP)
Multiple Locations across the Los Angeles area
CSPP is a state funded program which offers full-day or part time developmentally appropriate pre-school instruction for eligible three and four year olds. Families at or below 70% of the state median income are not required to pay fees.

The Maple Park Community Center features two large meeting rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, a computer lab, a recreation room, and a park area with a tennis court, multi-purpose field, picnic tables, and playgrounds. An activity cards allows for participation in drop in activities, such as: basketball, volleyball, and other drop in programs. Cards are free for youth and $25/yr for adults 18 and older.

This community center offers a variety of recreation and educational facilities a multi-purpose field, basketball courts, picnic area, playground, stage area as well as a computer lab, meeting rooms and a recreational room.
