IG - @flowerpottery

Mike Flower fell in love with clay and the potter’s wheel at Pasadena City College when Phil Cornelius and John Jacobs ran the inspiring program.  Mike Flower holds a degree in Broadcasting from CSU Northridge, a teaching certificate from CSU Dominguez Hills and an MA from Pepperdine. Originally pursuing a career in broadcasting, Mike Flower changed course after being a radio producer for a few years. Flower studied Ceramics at CSU Northridge, Dominguez Hills, and Long Beach.  Mike Flower has been a teacher of ceramics at the high school level for 20 years. He has been an adjunct faculty member at Cal State University Dominguez Hills and now at Glendale Community College.

Exposed clay surfaces and the natural world often play a part in his utilitarian work. Flower’s experimental work uses charcoal and unconventional firing methods.
