What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology refers to the study of the art and science of human movement. It is an overarching are of study that houses a variety of related disciplines ranging from physical education to health to sport.

Can I start taking classes in high school?
Yes! GCC's Jump Start program allows high school students to start taking college classes early.

What classes do I need to take?
You can find the program requirements for the KIN AA-T degree here.

Where do Kinesiology students usually transfer?
Lots of students who earn their AA-T in Kinesiology will transfer to the California State University system including:

    CSU Northridge
    CSU Los Angeles
    CSU Long Beach

Others decide to go to USC or other private schools.

What kind of careers can I pursue with a degree in Kinesiology?

What about internships?
Internships are available for qualified students. You must go through an interview process and get approval from a faculty advisor before registering. Internships are typically offered as 1-2 unit courses. Talk to your Kinesiology professor for more information.
