Student Testimonials

I decided to apply because of my love for British literature. The idea of spending a week immersed in discussions of one of Dickens’s works felt almost magically unreal to me. I also hoped to broaden my understanding of nineteenth-century British literature and connect with people who share the same passion for the field.

My very first impression was how welcoming and intelligent everyone was. I was amazed by the genuine passion people had for literature.

I found the other attendees inspiring. I was glad to meet people from different countries and universities, to share our perspectives on the book, and to learn from their insights. I love both the undergraduate and graduate community and I really miss those moments that we spent together. It was amazing how, in just six days, everyone became so close and so friendly that I immediately felt at home.

The undergraduate seminar was a life-changing experience! Even now, I can hardly believe I had the opportunity to be taught by John O. Jordan. I feel honored to have been part of his seminar, and I know he is a professor I will always remember.
